The hour- long 21st Youth State Basketball Championship- 2023 got underway today evening with a spectacular opening ceremony at the picturesque Renaissance School sports ground and followed by colourful cultural programs that kept mesmerising the packed basketball players, coaches , managers and the special guests. In this mega sports event, 16 zones of UP i.e Meerut, Agra, Aligarh, Bareilly, Ghaziabad, Varanasi, Etawah, Balia, Lucknow, Pratapgarh, Gorakhpur and Prayagraj participated.
Mrs. Seema Sharma, the President of Uttar Pradesh Basketball Association graced the stage as the Chief Guest inaugurated the Girls Basketball Championship in the presence of the Special Guest, Dr. Zubed Ur Rehman , the Vice-President of Wrestling Association of India, Mr. Dillip Singh, C.O. Khurja, powerlifter Mrs. Geeta Teotia, Mr. Arjun Singh, Coach, Indian Kabbadi Team and Mrs. Usha Sharma, the Chairperson of Renaissance School.
The Chief Guest of the day, Mrs. Seema Sharma addressed the players by saying that sports is an extremely important component for the overall development of our nation and this tremendous potential needs to be showcased at a global platform. On this occasion, Mr. Abhirag Sharma , the President of District Basketball Association lauded that it’s time to inspire young talent, give them top-notch infrastructure and training of the highest level and need to inculcate a strong spirit of sports and sportsmanship that enables players to demonstrate their true potential. The Senior Administrators, Mr. Vishwas Sharma and Mr. Shivam Mohan Sharma and the Administrator, Mr. Varun Kaushik congratulated and wished the players to put in all the efforts for their respective teams. Mr. Bhupendra Singh, the Secretary of the District Basketball Association said that sports fosters player’s physical and emotional health and builds valuable social connections also lays emphasis on the need to imbibe qualities of discipline, sportsmanship spirit and to never be disappointed by failure in life .
Renaissance School thanked and expressed its gratitude to all the eminent guests for their presence and support and congratulated the players to exhibit their exceptional hands on basketball.
