21st Youth State Basketball Championship is getting tougher gradually as quarter- finals are on the way. All the quarter finalists are ready to expose themselves to find their ways to semifinals.
On Day-3 of this mega series, 4 quarter finals were played. Varanasi, exhibiting excellent hands scored 50 points, beat Moradabad with a difference of 18 points in the first quarter final and became the first semifinalist. In 2nd quarter final match, Gautam Buddh Nagar displayed a stunning performance and from the beginning, it kept on dominating its counterpart, Aligarh. Aligarh were struggling to score only 9 points and lost to GBN with a huge margin of 09-50 points. Lucknow had a convincing win against Prayagraj in the 3rd quarter final with 36-26 points and cleared its path to semifinal. What a neck to neck 4th quarter final match between Agra and Gorakhpur! Till the last, both the teams showed their clinical performance with an example of fair play. In the end, Gorakhpur became the 4th semifinalist after beating Agra with a narrow margin of 46-45 points.
Today, two semi finals were played. In the first semi-final, Varanasi team, leading from the front, displaying a comprehensive performance beat Lucknow with a big margin of 55-19 points and became the first team to book its berth in final. The second semi-final was played between Gautam Buddh Nagar and Gorakhpur. GBN, the unstoppable and one of the most favourite contenders, again showing its dominance defeated Gorakhpur with a handful margin of 51-23 points. And GBN is all set to clash with Varanasi in the final match, to be played in the evening today.
